We visited Sister Shumaker and filled up her advent calendar. It was so fun finding little things to put in it. We also discovered a giant store that is exactly like stores in American and I felt like I was back at home! She was so surprised and really happy and kept saying that she would have a real Christmas now, so that was super sweet. She also taught us how to make some German food! We made frickadellas and then a bunch of German cookies. I am definitely going to make them for you when I get home. The night got a little eventful when Jana came bursting through Sister Schumaker's door (Jana is an investigator and she is friends with her). She got upset with us about how we were pushing her too much and that was really really awkward. But we talked with her yesterday and solved some of the problems and I think we are on better terms now! She has so much faith and I think I have said that a thousand times but it's true! I've decided that she is like a giant knot and we just have to untangle it all a little bit at a time haha.
We visited with the Telidis family this week. I love this family so much! They are so down to earth and just fun to be around. We talked about how Christmas is Jesus' birthday and we should give something back to Him for the holiday. So they each had to write something down and they actually stayed focused the whole time! It was also a super entertaining appointment because their cousin was there visiting and he is quiteee the story teller. He was making us laugh so hard we could barely breathe. Our next step is to get the family to church and we are struggling with that. Hopefully they will come soon!
I survived 24 in Köln without Sister Wadsworth! We successfully made it to all of our appointments on time and without getting lost! It really made me a ton more grateful for her though haha. I am a little nervous to take over the area and get a new comp next transfer! It will be fun though and something new. I was with Sister Bray and she is a transfer younger than me. She is so sweet and we had fun! We taught Erik and that was a little interesting. We were teaching fasting and tithing and he is a super smart kid and was trying to tell me he knew ALL about it already from his religion class at school. But he knows how Islam fasting goes, not our fasting! We did our very best though to get it all right. We also visited another old lady in our ward and brought her a chocolate advent calendar. It totally made her day and it made ours too! She said she was feeling really down and that we filled her right back up. It is so fun to see the members light up and share their testimonies of the Savior with us.
The Relief Society met at a superrr fancy restaurant for a christmas party this week and we got to go! It felt funny because I felt like I was doing regular life things. Sister Wadsworth got super brave and ate a really German thing...horse...I tried a bite and it was weird and I just couldn't get over the fact that it was horse.
We got ourselves a little tiny Christmas tree this week and literally had to carry it all over Köln! We got some super weird looks, but it sure was a great conversation starter.
We also met a wonderful lady named Mary Hu. She is Chinese and she is actually a member, but we aren't really sure how much she knows! She is so funny and we love her already. She just moved here from LA and we met her early yesterday morning to help her get to church. She insisted on buying us breakfast..on a Sunday and a fast Sunday. We didn't even get a word in and she bought it for us and we just carried it around all day! We hope to meet with her this week and get to know her better! It was really cool to see how excited she was to be back in the church again.
I have been reading in Mark this week just to study more about Jesus Christ for Christmas. Something that is really standing out to me is his charity and love of course! He is so direct in what he says and he definitely doesn't sugar coat anything, but you can tell that he says and does everything with pure love for the people and that makes all the difference. That is something I want to get better at and work on!
I hope you have a great week! Love you all!
