weeks! We just keep talking over and over again about how quickly the
time is going. It's awful!
We had an interesting but good week. But we are mostly excited for
this new week! We had a great weekly planning session and decided we
are going to have a week full of miracles. So we are studying faith
and exact obedience every day, asking in every prayer to please help
us find someone who is prepared, anddddd giving out 30 Books of Mormon
this week. We're a little nervous for that last one but we are
absolutely determined! A member challenged us to do it and said she
doesn't think we could do it. So we of course accepted the challenge
and we will definitely prove her wrong.
I think the roughest part of last week was that Ilona said she no
longer wanted to meet with us and she gave her Book of Mormon back. I
felt like I really had met her for a reason and she is in such a
desperate and terrible position in life and I knew the Gospel would
bless her in every way. But maybe she just isn't ready yet. It just
breaks our hearts because she is so depressed and lonely and we know
the gospel is the key. She said she can't hope or believe in a god
anymore because her life is so hard. We will be sure to keep in
contact with her and I have hope that she will be ready later down the
We were able to have zone training last week. Sister bray and I got to
give a theme on working with members. But the meeting was mostly
focused on the restoration. It was actually perfect because I think we
taught the first lesson 4 times this past week. As I have studied it
it just keeps making more and more sense to me. The world really did
need a restoration rather than a reformation! Our district also had a
giant baking session to make refreshments for the meeting, so that was
I think I mentioned that we set a goal to do an hour of street
contacting every week. And so this week we had a few appointments with
some people we met from last week's street contacting. One of them
became a new investigator! And another never showed up. And another
was an interesting experience! Her name is Heidi and she invited her
friend Rosy too! They both lived in America for a few years. We ate
some strawberries and cookies together and talked about America and
our beliefs. Turns out they both believe in Reverend Moon? We keep
hearing about him for some reason lately from other people we contact.
I don't even know what he preaches. But they knew a bit about Mormons
since they spent some time in Utah. They both accepted a Book of
Mormon and invited us to an inter-religion prayer circle tonight. We
are bringing the elders with us and we hope to be able to talk about
our beliefs and share some more Books of Mormon. I'm not sure if Rosy
or Heidi have much potential, but apparently Rosy's husband used to be
an investigator, so maybe it will plant another seed with him!
Frau Nowak is making progress. We taught a really great 1st lesson
with her and she said she will read! She seemed to understand
everything. The most frustrating thing with her is her house! We are
supposed to be helping her take care of this mess but she just keeps
having us move all the stuff around. We really would just like to
throw it all away.
Caroline is also doing really really great. She is reading and
accepting everything and praying! I just love her. She is also
planning on coming to church on Sunday and I think that will really
get her progressing even more.
We had a really cool experience on Saturday. We had a bit of an open
day so we planned to go by on a few people. We ended up only making it
to one person and she wasn't home, so we decided to door in her area.
The good news is that I no longer fear dooring. I actually really like
it. The problem is that I have never seen much success until Saturday
night! The way it works is we basically ring a doorbell and then they
have to let us into their building and then we have to find their
door. And the first person we rang let us in the building! She opened
her door and said she was feeling really sick but asked if we could
please come back before we had even mentioned wanting to meet with
her. She said she has been looking for truth and has studied lots of
religions but hasn't found the right one yet...she sounded pretty
prepared to me! We left a Book of Mormon with her and will definitely
be going back!
I wish I could explain better how much I love being here. I love being
a missionary and I love the life of a missionary! I don't think I have
ever been happier. I have a testimony that the Lord is with His
missionaries and that the work we are doing is true. I'm also
incredibly grateful for all the support I have at home and I miss you
I hope you and dad have a great time in Florida! I'm so excited to
hear about everything Andrea does and then I can email her and we can
talk all about how great Germany is.
I love you so much!
