On Monday night we had planned to go by on a less active because we couldn't get in contact with her. But we changed our plans last minute and decided to visit someone else. On our way there we somehow managed to get in the wrong train and ride it for a good 15 minutes. I contacted someone on the train and so I figured maybe that was the reason why that needed to happen. But then as we were about to get on the right train, I saw this less active that we wanted to go by on! We basically stalked her down the whole train platform and then sat next to her and had a great conversation. She had been having a rough day and was so happy to see us. We visited her the next day and actually just ran into her again about 1 hour ago:)
On Wednesday we were so excited for this great Restoration lesson we were going to have with Vera. We had a member coming, studied a lot, and were just ready to go. And then we got to the church and talked with the member until Vera came. She was probably in the building for a total of 60 seconds! She said she talked to some of her Christian friends and they told her to stay away because we will ruin her Christian progression haha. She gave us her Book of Mormon back and also gave us a nice envelope of quotes, so that was at least kind. We ended up having a great lesson with the member who came though!
We taught an investigator later that day and the lesson wasn't very good. And then no one I was contacting would even listen to me and I was feeling really frustrated and tired. We got on our train to head back to the city and I was just praying in my head that we could find SOMEONE. When we sat down on the train I decided I would talk to the lady sitting across from us but had really just ran out of ideas on how to start a conversation. I ended up asking her how to say the word zipper in German and we got a great conversation going! She said she wants to believe in God and knows that she needs someone's help because she can't do things alone anymore. We were able to tell her that we have a plan in this life and that she is a child of God. We met with her a couple of days ago and it was an awesome lesson. I am so happy for her because I know she has found what she is looking for! And I am really grateful that God helped us find her.
We have set some new transfer goals as a district. We really want to be constantly contacting and getting a certain amount per day. So we have set up a system where our district leader calls us each night to record how many contacts we have. We have only been doing it a week, but apparently there has already been a big improvement in our numbers! We were able to get quite a few new potentials this past week, so that was really exciting!
A few other things we did this week:
-YSA Missionary Weekend. The elders kind of got put in charge, so we helped! We got to give some talks, do some role plays, and we had a street display. Sister Parker went around on the streets for a while using her ipad to share the Because of Him video. It just made me love my calling even more!
-We got to go to primary yesterday
-Sister Oliphant and I ended up helping with a service project today. A family in the ward is moving and so we helped clean the new house a little. I am in love with this new house. It is huge and it is over 100 years old and they are pretty sure it used to house animals.
I'm grateful to be here and to be an instrument in the work. I think I am finally learning a little more how to rely on the Lord and it sure makes a difference!
I hope you are all having a great summer so far. Love you!
