-We met with a lady from Oregon. I heard her speaking English in a train so I started talking to her and it turns out that she knew exactly what we as missionaries do and who the Mormons are. Her dad is Mormon and she didn't seem to have the greatest feelings about us, but she said she would like to meet. I was so nervous for this appointment! But I was pleasantly surprised. She made us cake and was very nice and we talked a lot. She seems to have a lot of misconceptions about the church and I am hoping her heart will soften so that she can learn the truth.
-We found two potentials...except that they turned out to be false addresses, so that is always fun!
-We spent a good 30 minutes working with the Elders trying to lift a water-bed type mattress that was already filled. I think that was the hardest we laughed all week! The member we were visiting also made us Ukrainian food, so that was cool.
-Marcia continues to progress a ton! She is literally the light that I see at the end of a dark tunnel lately. She is doing great with the Word of Wisdom, reads daily, prays, and came to church. I love her!
-I am still working on getting to know all the ward members. Yesterday I talked to two girls who are sisters (13 and 10). They were just so sweet and somehow it made my day. The 13 year old said she would like to come teach with us sometime during the week. I am just so amazed at the faith and kindness of the members here because I know I sure wasn't like that when I was 13!
-I am currently reading D&C and I really liked these scriptures that I read yesterday:
Therefore, let your hearts be comforted concerning Zion; for all flesh is in mine hands; be still and know that I am God.
Therefore, let your hearts be comforted; for all things shall work together for good to them that walk uprightly, and to the sanctification of the church.
We haven't been seeing much success lately and I have been feeling frustrated, but I really am learning to try to rely on the Lord because I have no idea what else I could do!
I hope you have a great week!
Love, Sister Funk
