So the sisters in Frankfurt have been going to a daycare type place
for old people as a service activity for more than a year. And one of
the care takers has had a bit of potential as a possible
investigator. But we kept feeling like we were wasting our time and
started looking for a new service activity. But then something way
cool happened! When we went to service is week, she told us she has
met a lot of sisters but that we have a special spirit and she wants
to invite us to her home and her boyfriend wants to learn too. And I'm
sure there's nothing much different with Sister Knutson and me. I
think God has really prepared her and she's finally ready! We hope to
meet this week. I also finally beat two of the old people at Rummikub
so that was a good day.
There is also a lady that sisters worked with about 6 months ago and
she was making great progress but then she said she wanted a break.
But she has been coming to church and even general conference, so
we've been working up the courage to ask if we can meet again. And she
said we can teach her again! She came to church on Sunday and I'm so
And I'm so so happy for Paola. I really feel like I get what some of
the prophets in the scriptures say when they talk about their joy from
their missionary efforts. I've just been able to watch Paola change
and progress in so many ways. It is so cool to watch! She came to
church yesterday and has really opened up to us. She has a new
baptismal date for November 14th and I think she's going to make it!
I also enjoyed an awesome split with Sister Roundy:) We did lots of
go-bys and somehow everyone was home and let us in! I learned a lot
from her and just loved hearing her experiences from the mission! I
also met a really cool guy from England and he happily accepted a Book
of Mormon and gave me his information to pass on!
Our mission is trying out a new set of questions to use when we
contact. I LOVE them. My favorite is asking people if they believe God
knows their name. It's been really cool to see how that just breaks
down barriers and has led to a lot of great opportunities to bear
testimony! I contacted a girl on a bench a couple of days ago and used
that question. She was so weirded out and questioned everything I
asked her. But I just kept carrying on the conversation and the
perseverance paid off! She turned out to be super interested and we
made an appointment.
The work is going well in Frankfurt and I'm still learning something
new every day!
Love, Sister Funk
