lot but we taught more in meetings than we did in lessons...which was
really annoying to me at first but now I'm actually grateful for it!
We had zone conference on Thursday and then MLC on Friday. Zone
conference was so so good! The focus was the gospel of Jesus Christ
and sister Knutson and I were able to give themas on baptism and the
Holy Ghost. Something that I really love about being a missionary is
how often we get to bear testimony. As we spoke and testified, the
truthfulness of what we were saying just hit me so hard! It was also
fun to just lead a discussion with all of these awesome missionaries.
I feel so blessed to be in the Frankfurt and friedrichsdorf zones!
MLC was also great. The focus was the commandments and I learned a lot
more than I expected to! We were able to give a thema on tithing and I
realized how important this commandment is. They're just simple things
we are asked to do and God blesses us a hundred times more! President
and sister Stoddard have challenged us to read the entire Book of
Mormon before the end of the year. I'm really excited to take them up
on this challenge even though I'm currently in Helaman haha.
I was able to go on a split with sister riser in Mainz at the
beginning of this week! She is in her third transfer and is such an
awesome missionary! We went to a little town in their area that is
surrounded by vineyards, visited an investigator and talked a lot
about baptism, and met with a member who showed us how you can make
your own oatmeal from whatever kind of wheat oatmeal comes from haha.
This week we learned a lot about apartments! We got locked out, our
hot water broke and we took very cold showers, and our sink quit
draining! Thankfully the tech elders came and helped us out all three
2 cool experiences:
I gave a Book of Mormon to a man on the street the other day who was
crying. Pretty sure he was drunk too and he was on the ground so I
just got right down on his level and told him about Christ and he
definitely smiled when I gave him the book, so that was good!
And last night we met with Paola. We were really disappointed
yesterday because two investigators (one being Paola) said they would
come to church. So we even fasted that they would come. And neither of
them came even when we called them ten minutes before and they said
they were coming... But we were able to meet with her and ended up
changing our whole lesson plan and we simply taught repentance. I
don't think I have ever invited someone to repent as directly as we
did yesterday! But it just made perfect sense and she understood. I'm
so grateful we can repent daily and align our will with god's. It's
such a cool message that we are able to share, that we can constantly
improve and be happier through Christ.
I hope you all have a good week and enjoy general conference! We are so excited.
Love, sister funk
